About Amy

Amy is a full time PhD student who uses crafting as a creative outlet from her career in science. Crocheting for over 10 years, it wasn't until she discover the craft of amigurumi, or doll making, that she decided she wanted to share her creations with a bigger audience. In April 2014 she opened her first Etsy shop (BunHerder). She now runs HopandStitchbyAmy. Amy is a huge fan of fantasy and science fiction, and enjoys incorporating these elements into her work. While she has a broad range of accomplished projects, from Pokemon to other scientists' study organisms, her common thread is "cuteness." Even a bedbug can be adorable when cast in the right light. She has made countless hats, scarves, and other wearable goods for friends and family, and hopes to expand her shop to include these items in 2015.

Amy resides in southern California with her husband, black lab (Vader), and dutch rabbit (Stannis). When not doing science or crocheting, she wants to be hiking and/or drinking craft beer.
